Hole-in-one, leaderboard shake-up and a thrilling title race set up dramatic final round at Oxford Golf Resort
The battle for supremacy at the Women’s Pro Golf Tour (WPGT) in Pune took a dramatic turn as Anvitha Narender surged into the lead, pushing overnight topper Tvesa Malik to second place after an action-packed second round at the Oxford Golf Resort.
A day after firing a flawless bogey-free round, Tvesa endured a challenging outing, carding a 2-over 74. Despite registering three birdies, she was hurt by three bogeys and a costly double bogey, slipping from the summit in a tightly contested leaderboard.
Capitalising on the opportunity, Anvitha displayed remarkable composure. After opening with a bogey, she bounced back in style with birdies on the ninth and 11th holes. Although she dropped shots on the 12th and 17th, a crucial birdie on the 16th ensured she signed off with an even-par 72. Adding this to her impressive first-round 71, Anvitha climbed to the top with one round left, firmly placing herself in title contention.
Riya Jadon made a strong move up the leaderboard, securing third place with a steady 72 that featured three birdies and three bogeys. Nayanika Sanga, who dazzled early with three birdies in her first seven holes, cooled off later but remained in the hunt.
The competition remains fierce beyond the top three. Ketaki Sood (71), Shagun Narain (74) and amateur Priya Kumari (75) are tied for fifth at 3-over 147, while Mannat Brar — one of only three players to shoot under par on Day Two — shares eighth place with Ridhima Dilawari (73).
In a spectacular highlight of the day, Durga Nittur thrilled spectators with the season’s first hole-in-one, holing out from 140 yards on the Par-3 14th.
With the cut falling at 154 and 28 players advancing, the stage is perfectly set for a gripping final round showdown in Pune.
