Baisakhi 2026 : Via Attari-Wagah Border 2840 Sikh Devotees Leave for Pakistan Pilgrimage

A group of around 2,840 Sikh pilgrims from India departed for Pakistan today through the Attari-Wagah border to celebrate Baisakhi. Along with the festival celebrations, the pilgrims will also visit sacred gurdwaras located in Pakistan. They have been granted visas for a duration of 10 days.

On this occasion, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) sent a group of 1,763 pilgrims. The pilgrim group was flagged off amid chants of “Bole So Nihal… Sat Sri Akal.” The group is being led by SGPC member Surjit Singh Tugalwal. The group will return to India on April 19 after completing visits to various religious sites. According to officials, the entire pilgrimage will last 10 days.

On the occasion of Baisakhi, pilgrims from different committees have been granted visas to visit gurdwaras in Pakistan. A total of 409 pilgrims from the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, 255 from the Haryana Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, and 1,763 from the SGPC are part of this travel, making a total of 2,840 pilgrims traveling to Pakistan.

SGPC Secretary Kulwant Singh Mannan stated that Khalsa Sajna Diwas will be celebrated on April 14, and the pilgrimage has been organized in connection with the occasion.
