Covid patient jumps to death from 4th floor of PGI Chandigarh

CHANDIGARH: A Covid-19 patient indentified as Vinod, resident of Panchkula today jumped from the fourth floor of the PGI Chandigarh.

Vinod Kumar aged 42 was admitted in PGI on April 11, 2021. A PGI spokesman said that he was under treatment for post Covidfungal pneumonia. He was adequately treated in ICU and was shifted to Room No.24, private ward on fourth floor on April 28, 2021. On 29.4.2021 the patient jumped out of window of his room at around 12.05 PM. The patient was immediately taken to emergency where doctors declared him dead at 12.26 PM.

PGI spokesman said that Vinod Kumar was already under treatment for anxiety from psychiatry department.

This is second case of Covid patient jumping to death from Covid ward in Chandigarh. Earlier, on August 2, 2020, a 62 year old patient had jumped from 5th floor of GMCH Sector 32 Chandigarh. The victim Chunni Lal had called his son before taking extreme step and told him breathing problems.
