PM Modi says Gen Z and Gen Alpha will lead India towards the goal of a Developed Nation
On the occasion of Veer Bal Diwas, President Droupadi Murmu on Friday honored 20 children from across the country with the Prime Minister’s National Child Award. These children were selected from 18 states and Union Territories for their outstanding contributions in the fields of bravery, social service, sports, innovation, and inspirational work. The award ceremony was held in New Delhi in the presence of the awardees and their families.
Among this year’s award recipients is 14-year-old emerging cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi. He is currently in Delhi to receive the award and, due to this reason, could not play in the Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Manipur. Vaibhav was honored for his exceptional performance and discipline in the field of sports.
The list of awardees also includes Shravan Singh from Ferozepur, Punjab. Shravan displayed remarkable courage and dedication during Operation Sindoor by serving tea and snacks to soldiers deployed at the border. His selfless service and commitment were widely appreciated, earning him the prestigious national recognition.
This year, two children were honored with the Prime Minister’s National Child Award posthumously. These include Byoma from Tamil Nadu and Kamlesh Kumar from Bihar. Both were recognized for their courageous and inspiring acts. The awards were received by their parents on their behalf from the President.
After the award ceremony, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the award-winning children and interacted with them. Addressing the children, the Prime Minister said that Gen Z and Gen Alpha will play a crucial role in achieving the vision of a Developed India. He emphasized that today’s children are moving forward with new ideas, innovation, and sensitivity, which are essential for shaping the country’s future.
Veer Bal Diwas is observed every year on December 26 to commemorate the martyrdom of the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru. Guru Gobind Singh’s four sons—Ajit Singh, Jujhar Singh, Zorawar Singh, and Fateh Singh—are respectfully known as the Sahibzadas. On December 26, 1705, all four Sahibzadas were killed by the Mughal forces. To honor their supreme sacrifice and bravery, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in 2022 that December 26 would be observed annually as Veer Bal Diwas.
