From school surveys and medical equipment approval to NABL accreditation and Surajkund Mela, multi-sector initiatives reviewed statewide

In a major push to fast-track development across Haryana, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini chaired a State-Level DISHA Committee meeting to review progress in key sectors including education, health, housing, water management and sports. The Chief Minister directed officials to conduct surveys in rapidly growing urban areas to assess the need for opening new schools so that children do not have to travel long distances for education.

Highlighting efforts to bring dropout students back into the mainstream, it was informed that out of 34,000 children who had left school, 18,796 were given six months of training and 15,386 have been successfully reintegrated into formal education.

In the health sector, special emphasis was laid on making Haryana TB-free and anemia-free. The state achieved 98 percent coverage under the National Deworming Campaign. Strengthening healthcare infrastructure, the government approved the purchase of medical equipment worth ₹2.39 crore, including slit lamps, radiant warmers, LED phototherapy units and plastic molded pallets. These will be supplied to civil hospitals and neonatal care units to enhance diagnosis, treatment and storage facilities.

Reviewing housing schemes, officials informed that over 76,000 houses have been approved under the CM Rural Housing Scheme, with more than 41,000 already completed. Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban), thousands of houses are also under construction. Instructions were issued to expedite financial assistance under the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Housing Scheme for eligible beneficiaries.

In Panchkula, a seminar on NABL accreditation emphasized the importance of technical competence and adherence to international standards in testing laboratories to ensure quality and reliability.

Meanwhile, the 39th Surajkund International Crafts Mela emerged as a vibrant celebration of art, culture and traditional craftsmanship. Visitors were drawn to traditional garments from Uttar Pradesh, silk and mirror work from Gujarat, and specialty pickles and snacks from Rajasthan. Performances by Haryanvi folk artists added to the festive atmosphere.

Senior officials from various departments were present at the meeting, and the Chief Minister directed that all development projects be completed within stipulated timelines to further accelerate Haryana’s overall growth.
