Lovely Professional University earns double national honour for world-class sports facilities and powerful digital sports promotion
Lovely Professional University (LPU) has once again stamped its authority in the field of sports education by achieving a prestigious double victory at the Global Sports Education Convention (G-SEC) 2026. In a proud moment of national recognition, LPU was conferred with the National Ranking Award for Sports & Physical Education in two elite categories — “Best Indoor Sports Facility” and “Best Social Media Promotion in Sports and Physical Education.”
The awards were presented by the Confederation of Sports and Recreation Industry (CSRI) at a high-profile ceremony organised in collaboration with the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India. The honour highlights LPU’s leadership and consistent excellence in building a future-ready sports ecosystem in the country.
At the heart of this recognition is LPU’s iconic indoor sports stadium — a state-of-the-art facility designed to international standards. The complex houses multiple global-level courts, advanced training arenas, athlete recovery and support zones, and round-the-clock practice facilities. This environment enables athletes to train professionally and evolve into champions long before they enter national and international arenas.
Alongside infrastructure excellence, LPU was also celebrated for its innovative digital presence in sports, which has successfully amplified athlete journeys, tournament highlights and the vibrant sports culture on campus. The university’s impactful social media strategy has played a key role in inspiring young talent and showcasing sporting achievements at a national scale.
Reacting to the achievement, Dr. Ashok Kumar Mittal, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Founder Chancellor of LPU, stated that sports has always been a core pillar of the university’s educational philosophy. He emphasised that LPU’s investment in infrastructure, scientific training methods and athlete development reflects its commitment to nurturing not just medal winners, but disciplined, resilient and socially responsible individuals.
LPU also made a strong intellectual contribution at G-SEC 2026 by participating in a panel discussion on Financing and Return on Investment in Sports and Physical Education. Representing the university, Dr. Sorabh Lakahanpal, Executive Dean, shared valuable insights on sustainable funding models, industry-academia collaboration and long-term planning for strengthening sports education.
Over the years, LPU has emerged as one of India’s most comprehensive sporting hubs, hosting major national championships and inter-university tournaments. Its expansive infrastructure includes an Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, shooting range, synthetic tracks, football grounds, international-standard courts, sports science labs and rehabilitation centres — reinforcing LPU’s position as a powerhouse of Indian sports development.
