CHANDIGARH: National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees (NCCOEEE ) appeals to the central government and Chandigarh administration to withdraw the proposal to privatize the electricity department . The transfer of 100 percent share of profit making electricity entity that provides the cheapest power with low losses is a clear violation of Electricity Act 20003.

The strike was forced by the Chandigarh administration on its employees for their refusal not to issue letter of intent to a private company till the order of Punjab and Haryana High court.

V K Gupta spokesperson All India Power Engineers Federation (AIPEF) said that the core committee of NCCOEEE under the chairmanship of Shalindra Dubey Chairman AIPEF today met the office bearers of UT Powermen Union to take their feedback on the strike.

The other committtee members were Prashant Chaudhary from EEFI , Rathnakar Rao Secretary General and Padamjit Singh , Ashok Rao from AIPEF. Samar Sinha of AIPF, Kuldeep Kumar of INEWF , Shiv Shankar from Telangana ,and Abhimanyu Dhankhar from AIFOPDE.

NCCOEEE took serious note and condemned the police action of harassing the union leaders and their families in midnight on 22nd February and further filing of false cases of sabotage. It is a matter of record that disruption of power took
place due to a storm on the night of 22nd.February.The offer of striking employees to restore emergency services was rejected by the Chandigarh administration. NCCOEEE warns the administration of Chandigarh of serious repercussions in event of any punitive action or police excesses. NCCOEEE thanked the Chandigarh residents for their support and regret any inconvenience during the strike.
