Punjab Newsline,Film:

Second season of the acclaimed investigative drama to premiere on February 11 with a new case and fresh character dynamics

Netflix has officially announced the release date of the much-awaited second season of its popular investigative drama series Kohrra. The new season will premiere on the streaming platform on February 11, bringing back the gritty, atmospheric storytelling that made the first season a critical and audience favourite.

Created and written by Gunjit Chopra, Diggi Sisodia and Sudip Sharma, Kohrra Season 2 promises a completely new case while retaining the intense emotional depth and realism that defined the show earlier. Set once again in the bleak, wintry landscape of Punjab, the series continues to explore crime, silence, and the hidden truths that lie beneath seemingly ordinary lives.

In Season 2, the story moves away from Jagrana to a new setting. Assistant Sub-Inspector Amarpal Garundi, played by Barun Sobti, is transferred to Dalerpura Police Station. There, he works under a new commanding officer, Dhanwant Kaur, portrayed by Mona Singh. The season focuses on the evolving professional relationship between the two officers as they investigate a fresh crime that exposes deep social and personal conflicts. Actor Rannvijay Singha also plays a significant role in the new season.

Speaking about the upcoming season, director Sudip Sharma said that returning to the world of Kohrra has been an exciting experience. He noted that while the first season explored the quiet tensions between people and their pasts, the second season continues to present an authentic portrayal of Punjab, rooted in realities familiar across the country. He described the new season as an emotional roller-coaster and praised the performances of Barun Sobti and Mona Singh, expressing eagerness for audiences to watch the show.

Tanya Bami, Series Head at Netflix India, called Kohrra a cult classic that has earned awards, appreciation, and strong audience support. She highlighted that the show’s strength lies in its honest simplicity and its ability to reveal layers of complexity as the story unfolds. According to her, Season 2, set in a new city with a new crime and partnership, is even more gripping. She also credited Sudip Sharma’s expert craftsmanship, noting that Season 2 marks his directorial debut as well as his role as creator and showrunner.

With a new storyline, powerful performances, and the same dark, immersive tone, Kohrra Season 2 is expected to be an unmissable crime thriller for fans of investigative dramas when it premieres on Netflix this February.
