Historic initiative aims to take Sri Guru Ravidass Ji’s message of equality, compassion and social justice to future generations across the globe
In a landmark step to preserve and promote the timeless teachings of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji, the Punjab Government has decided to establish the Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Adhayyan Centre near Dera Ballan in Jalandhar. The initiative reflects the state government’s strong commitment to carrying forward the six-century-old message of social, economic and political equality to future generations, while ensuring its global outreach.
Disclosing the details of this novel initiative, Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema said the project is one of its kind in the country. He informed that the Punjab Government has successfully registered more than nine acres of land, valued at ₹10.50 crore, in the name of the Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Adhayyan Centre. “This initiative underlines our resolve to ensure that the teachings and ideology of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji reach every nook and corner of the world,” Cheema said.
Providing further clarity, the Finance Minister stated that three land registries have been executed for the project. One registry pertains to village Naugaja, measuring 64 Kanal 5 Marla, purchased at a cost of ₹5,40,98,500. The second registry is in village Faridpur, covering 2 Kanal at a cost of ₹16,74,000, while the third, also in Faridpur, measures 10 Kanal 14 Marla and has been acquired for ₹1,44,62,150. Collectively, these registries amount to ₹7,02,54,659 and cover a total area of 76 Kanal 19 Marla, forming the foundation for the ambitious centre.
Harpal Singh Cheema emphasized that the government led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann is wholeheartedly committed to this noble cause. “We consider ourselves fortunate to be partners in an initiative that propagates the universal values of equality, compassion and social justice preached by Sri Guru Ravidass Ji,” he said.
Highlighting the long-term vision, the Finance Minister noted that the Adhayyan Centre will serve as a guiding light for the younger generation. “The centre will help make youth aware of our rich spiritual and social heritage and will contribute significantly towards bridging social and economic gaps,” he added.
The Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Adhayyan Centre will focus on research, preservation and dissemination of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji’s teachings through seminars, publications and community-based programmes, reinforcing Punjab’s commitment to spreading his transformative message at both national and international levels.
