‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’ Continues Unabated; 104 Drug Smugglers Arrested on Day 334

As part of the decisive campaign ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’, launched on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann to make Punjab a gangster-free state, the Punjab Police carried out extensive operations across the state on the 10th day of the drive. During the day, police teams conducted 765 raids at identified and mapped locations linked to gangsters and their associates, sending a strong message against organized crime.

The campaign was formally launched on January 20, 2026, under the leadership of Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav. Since then, police teams from all districts, in close coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, have been carrying out special, intelligence-based operations across the state.

On Day 10 of the campaign, police teams checked 576 individuals, out of which 157 were arrested. During these operations, three illegal firearms were also recovered from the possession of the accused. In addition, preventive action was taken against 160 persons, while 259 individuals were verified and released after thorough questioning.

DGP Gaurav Yadav reiterated that public participation remains a key pillar of the campaign. Citizens can anonymously share information related to wanted criminals, gangsters, or other criminal activities through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946. He added that a cash reward of up to ₹10 lakh will be given for credible information leading to the arrest of gangsters, assuring complete confidentiality to informants.

Meanwhile, the Punjab Police has continued its relentless crackdown on drug trafficking under the ongoing anti-drug campaign ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’, which entered its 334th day on Thursday. As part of this drive, police teams arrested 104 drug smugglers in a single day.

During these operations, the police recovered 43.6 kg of heroin, 7 kg of opium, 13 kg of ganja, 369 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and ₹8,570 in drug money from the arrested accused. With these arrests, the total number of drug smugglers apprehended has reached 46,970 in just 334 days, reflecting the scale and intensity of the campaign.

Alongside enforcement, the Punjab Police is also focusing on rehabilitation and de-addiction. As part of its social responsibility, police teams on Thursday motivated 39 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment.

The twin campaigns against gangsters and drug networks underline the Punjab Police’s firm resolve to restore peace, strengthen law and order, and safeguard the future of the state’s youth.
