Punjab Govt Ensures Timely Treatment Under ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana’; One-Year-Old in Muktsar Receives Immediate Care

Punjab Newsline | Chandigarh :

Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab government is ensuring that treatment for critical health conditions begins without delay. Earlier, families often faced hurdles such as arranging funds, completing extensive paperwork, or waiting for approvals before treatment could start. However, the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana’ has effectively addressed these challenges.

One-Year-Old Girl in Muktsar Benefits from Scheme

A recent example from Muktsar highlights the impact of the scheme. A one-year-old girl, Khwahish, was admitted to a private hospital with pneumonia, a condition requiring immediate medical attention. As her family already possessed a Sehat Card, her treatment began promptly under the supervision of Dr. Monika Garg at Deep Hospital, without any upfront payment.

The family did not have to arrange funds or go through lengthy verification procedures. In critical cases involving infants, even minor delays can lead to serious complications. However, due to timely intervention, the child received proper treatment and made a full recovery.

Families Across Punjab Benefiting from Cashless Healthcare

Similar cases are being reported from districts such as Sangrur and Mansa, where newborns—especially those with low birth weight or critical conditions—are receiving specialized treatment without financial stress. These instances highlight how accessible and efficient healthcare services are becoming across Punjab under the scheme.

₹10 Lakh Cashless Coverage Per Family : Dr. Balbir Singh

Punjab’s Health and Family Welfare Minister, Dr. Balbir Singh, stated that the ‘Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojana’ ensures that no patient faces delays due to financial or administrative barriers. The scheme provides cashless health coverage of up to ₹10 lakh per family annually at empanelled government and private hospitals.

He further informed that over 26 lakh Sehat Cards have already been issued, enabling patients to avail treatment at more than 900 empanelled hospitals offering over 2,300 medical packages.

The Health Minister also urged residents to register for Sehat Cards at designated centres to take full advantage of the scheme and access hassle-free medical treatment.
