Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema on Wednesday held a series of important meetings with representatives of various employee unions to address their long-pending demands and concerns.
Cheema, who also heads the Cabinet Sub-Committee formed to resolve employee issues, interacted directly with multiple delegations at his office. Key unions that participated in the discussions included the Meritorious School Teachers Union, Adhyapak Insaf Committee, Fire Brigade Outsource Employees Union, Fire Brigade Contract Employees Union, and the Forest Workers Union.
During the meetings, the Finance Minister reviewed the issues in detail in the presence of senior officials from concerned departments. He directed authorities to take prompt action and ensure that all genuine demands are resolved without delay.
Highlighting the government’s stance, Cheema said that the Punjab government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, remains committed to protecting employee welfare and addressing their concerns within a fixed timeline.
He further stressed that the Cabinet Sub-Committee is actively engaging with employee representatives to ensure a transparent, efficient, and responsive grievance redressal system.
Union representatives who attended the meetings included Dr. Tina and Ajay Kumar (Meritorious School Teachers Union); Vikram Dev Singh, Digvijay Pal Sharma, Sukhwinder Singh Chahal, and Baz Singh (Adhyapak Insaf Committee); Sahib Singh, Gurviryam Singh, and Sukhjit Singh (Fire Brigade Outsource Employees Union); Sobha Singh (Fire Brigade Contract Employees Union); and Makhan Singh Wahidpuri, Amrik Singh, Jaswinder Singh, Satnam Singh, Ravi Kumar, and Shinderpal Singh (Forest Workers Union).
