The Punjab Police on wednesday conducted extensive raids across the state as part of the ongoing “War on Gangsters” campaign, marking its 92nd day of operations. A total of 541 targeted locations linked to associates of gangsters were searched during the statewide action.
The campaign, launched on January 20, 2026, under the direction of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, aims to make Punjab a gangster-free state. It is being led by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) and district police units.
During the latest operation, 254 individuals were arrested and four illegal weapons were recovered. With this, the total number of arrests under the campaign has reached 23,140.
Police also took preventive action against 79 individuals, while 61 others were verified and released after questioning. In addition, three proclaimed offenders (POs) were apprehended during the raids.
Authorities have urged the public to share information related to gangsters and wanted criminals anonymously through the anti-gangster helpline number 93946-93946, which remains active for reporting criminal activity.
Meanwhile, under the ongoing “War Against Drugs” campaign, which marked its 417th day, Punjab Police arrested 98 drug traffickers on Wednesday. Seizures included 1.1 kg heroin, 67 kg poppy husk, 514 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and ₹7,430 in drug money.
Since the launch of the anti-drug drive, the total number of arrested drug traffickers has reached 60,008. As part of rehabilitation efforts, 44 individuals were persuaded by police to undergo de-addiction treatment on the same day.
