Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has intercepted and taken control of a cargo vessel heading toward India in the strategic Hormuz Strait, according to Iranian state-linked reports.

The vessel, identified as the Liberia-flagged container ship Epaminodes was en route to Gujarat’s Mundra Port when it was stopped by Iranian forces. Iranian naval authorities claimed that the ship attempted to pass through the strait without proper authorization and alleged possible tampering with its navigation system, raising maritime security concerns.

During the operation, IRGC forces reportedly intercepted the vessel and redirected it toward the Iranian coast. Iranian sources also claimed that another ship named Francesca, allegedly linked to Israel, was seized in a separate action. In addition, the vessel Euphoria was reportedly attacked in related incidents.

Earlier reports suggested that one ship came under fire near Iranian waters, while another sustained damage in an attack near the coast of Oman, highlighting rising tensions in the region’s key shipping routes.

The developments have raised concerns over maritime security in the Hormuz Strait, one of the world’s most critical oil and trade corridors.
