Silver crosses ₹3 lakh per kg for the first time, jumps ₹15,000 in a day

Punjab Newsline,National:

On January 19, silver touches ₹3.02 lakh per kg on MCX, strong rally continues

Silver prices have created history by crossing the ₹3 lakh per kg mark for the first time. On January 19, silver on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) surged past ₹3 lakh per kg and touched a high of ₹3.02 lakh during trading. The price registered a sharp increase of more than ₹15,000 in a single day. On Friday, silver was trading at around ₹2.87 lakh per kg on MCX.

Over the past one month, silver has witnessed a record-breaking rise. Around December 15, 2025, silver had reached the ₹2 lakh per kg level for the first time. Since then, it has gained nearly ₹1 lakh in just one month, moving from ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh. Market experts say this is one of the fastest rallies ever seen in silver prices.

A look at historical data highlights how exceptional this surge has been. Silver took nearly 14 years to move from ₹50,000 per kg to ₹1 lakh per kg. The journey from ₹1 lakh to ₹2 lakh took about nine months, while the rise from ₹2 lakh to ₹3 lakh happened in just one month. These figures indicate a sharp increase in demand and strong investor interest in recent months.

According to market analysts, the rally is being supported by strength in global markets, rising industrial demand, global economic uncertainty, and a growing preference among investors for safe-haven assets. Fluctuations in the US dollar and uncertainty over interest rates have also had a significant impact on precious metal prices.

Experts believe that if the current momentum continues, silver prices could reach ₹4 lakh per kg in 2026. However, they caution that volatility may remain high, and investors are advised to stay cautious. For now, silver’s record surge has become a major talking point in both the investment and bullion markets.
