Varun recalls singing Diljit’s songs in front of the Punjabi superstar during the film’s shoot
Actor Varun Dhawan, who is currently in the spotlight for his upcoming film Border 2, recently shared details about his close bond with Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh and his experience of working with him. Speaking at a special promotional event for the film, Varun opened up about the warm and friendly equation he shared with Diljit during the shoot.
Varun Dhawan said that their relationship on set went beyond just work. He revealed that the two actors spent a lot of time together off camera as well, playing cricket, working out, and enjoying casual moments during breaks. According to Varun, the atmosphere on the sets was relaxed and full of fun, which helped build a strong friendship between them.
Recalling a humorous incident, Varun said that he often ended up singing Diljit Dosanjh’s songs right in front of the Punjabi star himself. Laughing at his own actions, Varun admitted that he later questioned why he felt the need to do so. He explained that when someone is your favourite singer, such things happen naturally. Varun added that Diljit took it sportingly, and the moments only added to the fun and camaraderie on set.
Meanwhile, Varun Dhawan is eagerly awaiting the release of Border 2, which is being developed as a grand patriotic war drama. The film is a sequel to J. P. Dutta’s 1997 blockbuster Border, a landmark film in Indian cinema that portrayed the Battle of Longewala during the 1971 India–Pakistan war. The original film is remembered for its powerful storytelling, emotional depth, and strong depiction of the Indian armed forces.
Border 2 aims to revisit the same patriotic tone and military focus that made the first film iconic, while presenting the story on a much larger scale with modern filmmaking techniques. Veteran actor Sunny Deol, who played Major Kuldip Singh Chandpuri in the original film, has been confirmed to return, ensuring continuity with the earlier installment.
The sequel is reportedly being directed by Anurag Singh, best known for Kesari (2019), raising expectations of a blend of battlefield realism and character-driven storytelling. The film is being produced by J. P. Dutta’s banner along with major studio backing, indicating a significantly higher budget and enhanced production values.
