Asha Bhosle to Receive State Funeral; Mortal Remains Kept for Final Darshan Till 3 PM

Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday, April 12, at the age of 92. Her last rites will be performed today (Monday) at 4 PM at Shivaji Park with full state honours. The legendary singer will be accorded a final farewell with state honors.

A steady stream of film personalities, singers, and political leaders has been visiting her residence to pay their last respects. According to PTI, fans and well-wishers have also started arriving to catch a final glimpse of the legendary singer.

Her son, Anand Bhosle, informed that those wishing to pay tribute can visit their residence ‘Casa Grande’ in Lower Parel from 11 AM onwards. The funeral procession will take place later in the evening at Shivaji Park.

Several prominent figures from the film industry, including Javed Akhtar, Shabana Azmi, Jackie Shroff, Salim Merchant, and Vishal Dadlani, visited her Mumbai home to offer condolences.

On Sunday evening, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also paid his respects at her residence and met with the bereaved family.

Earlier, players and fans observed a one-minute silence in her memory before the IPL match between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.

Prime Minister Modi expressed grief 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Shah Rukh Khan, Hema Malini, and many others expressed their grief over the passing of Asha Bhosle. Narendra Modi stated, "I am deeply saddened by the demise of Asha Bhosle Ji, one of India's most iconic and versatile voices. Her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched our cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the globe. Whether through her soulful melodies or vibrant compositions, her voice possessed a timeless brilliance. I will always cherish the interactions I had with her. My condolences go out to her family, fans, and music lovers. She will continue to inspire future generations, and her songs will forever resonate in people's lives."
