Legendary playback singer Asha Bhosle was cremated with full state honours at the Shivaji Park crematorium in Mumbai. The Maharashtra Police presented a Guard of Honour as a mark of respect to the iconic singer.

An emotional moment was witnessed before the final rites when singers Shaan and Anup Jalota, along with others, paid tribute by singing the classic song “Abhi Na Jao Chodkar,” leaving mourners deeply moved.

Earlier in the day, her mortal remains were kept at her Mumbai residence, Casa Grande, for public homage. The body was later draped in the national flag and given a ceremonial salute before being taken for the final rites.

Asha Bhosle passed away on Sunday at Breach Candy Hospital in Mumbai at the age of 92. Over her remarkable 82-year-long singing career, she won more than 100 awards, including nine Filmfare Awards, and was honoured with the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award.

Her son, Anand Bhosle, performed the last rites, while her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, was seen in tears during the emotional farewell. Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray paid floral tribute before the cremation. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Sunetra Pawar also paid their respects.

Bollywood personalities including Aamir Khan, Vicky Kaushal, and music composer Anu Malik attended the cremation to pay their final tribute to the legendary singer.
