Registration for the ‘Mukh Mantri Mawan Dheeyan Satkar Yojana’ which provides ₹1,000 per month to women, will now start from April 15. Earlier, the registration was scheduled to begin on April 13, the day of Baisakhi, but was postponed due to a special assembly session over the sacrilege law.

Prior to this, on April 14, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann will launch the scheme at a rally in Adampur, Jalandhar. The scheme will initially be rolled out in seven districts Muktsar, Rupnagar (Ropar), Patiala, Sangrur, Moga, Jalandhar, and Faridkot. Of these, five districts belong to the Malwa region, which has the highest number of assembly seats, while two fall in the Doaba region, often referred to as ‘Dalitland.’

Additionally, the selected constituencies include four seats represented by ministers, one by the Speaker, and one by the state president of the AAP women’s wing. Notably, the government has also announced an additional ₹500 for women from the SC category, increasing their monthly benefit to ₹1,500.
