Jalandhar, May 7, 2023: Hitting out at the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on Sunday said that both AAP & BJP concentrated specifically on self-promotion and branding and deliberately ignored the demands of the voters. Progress, development and public welfare was never the priority of both the parties. It only misled voters with their fake guarantees and illusionary promises to grab power.
During the last leg of election campaign in Jalandhar, while addressing a public meeting, the PPCC chief said that AAP betrayed the women of the state with its false promise of giving ₹ 1000 per month, better healthcare and other promises, the BJP deceived the voters with its ‘Jumlas’ of 15 lakh to every citizen, cheaper petrol/diesel and LPG cylinders, and false claims of eliminating corruption and terrorism. He added that BJP promised farmers to waive off their loan but the three controversial farm laws exposed its anti-farmer and anti-people face. It was the arrogance of the BJP leadership that forced farmers to leave their houses and sit on the roads on Delhi border for more than a year for their rights.
Higher taxes, unplanned GST, decision of demonetization, rising inflation and other such anti-people decisions added to the woes of the citizens of the country. Worst, the Prime Minister deliberately ignored the legitimate demands of the farming community and did not speak even a single word on the sad demise of those who lost their lives during the farmers protest on the Delhi border.
The farmers faced extreme weather conditions but kept fighting against the tyrant government to safeguard their rights. The government tried all tactics to disrupt the Peaceful protest besides maligning the image of those who were a part of the peaceful protest. All that BJP was bothered about was its false ego. Undeterred by extreme weather conditions, farmers sat firm on their demands and forced the govt to repeal the controversial farmer laws.
The party chief said that while on one hand the BJP lead central government misled the citizens of the country, on the other hand its B-team, the Aam Aadmi Party, hoodwinked the people of Punjab with its false promises and fake guarantees.
Irked over AAP’s misrule in the state, the Punjab congress chief said, “The last more than one year of AAP’s rule has been disastrous for Punjab and its people. Whether it is about rupees 1000 for women per month, eliminating the drug menace, securing justice in the sacrilege case, quelling sand mafia, offering better health care infrastructure and better education system, the Aam Aadmi Party failed drastically on all fronts and disappointed each and every voter who voted for AAP.”
Saying the announcement of declaring former Congress leader as AAP's candidate for the upcoming by election has upset the Aam Aadmi Party volunteers, the state chief said most of the AAP volunteers have out rightly rejected the AAP candidate owing to his misdeeds besides rejecting AAP, for its lies and unfulfilled guarantees. He added that Women, farmers, unemployed youth, contractual staff and a major chunk of people from different walks of life have made up their mind to teach a lesson to the Aam Aadmi Party in the forthcoming LS by election. I am sure the people of Jalandhar, especially those who voted in favour of Aam Aadmi Party, will express their ire against the AAP by voting on May 10 in favour of Congress candidate Smt. Karamjit Kaur Chaudhary in the Jalandhar LS by-election.
During another public meeting in Jalandhar, Warring said the Congress party has always believed in communal harmony, progress, prosperity and development and it has always followed the path of truth, honesty and righteousness for the betterment of the people of the country. He said inspired by the pro people policies of the Congress, the voters will definitely support and elect the Congress candidate in the Jalandhar by election.
