24×7 Control Room Set Up at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport to Facilitate Passengers

Punjab Newsline, Chandigarh

In view of the ongoing Indigo Airlines crisis in the country, the Punjab Government has set up a 24×7 control room at Shaheed Bhagat Singh International Airport to ensure that passengers do not face any inconvenience. This step has been taken under the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, with a focus on assisting passengers affected by delays and cancellations.

Sonali Giri, Secretary, Punjab Department of Civil Aviation, said that the state government is committed to minimizing passenger inconvenience. She held a detailed review meeting with the Airport Authority, CISF, and airline operators to streamline the situation. According to her, the control room has been established in the office of the Duty Terminal Manager, where real-time updates related to refunds, rescheduling, baggage delivery, and flight operations are being provided.

She informed that dedicated teams are continuously monitoring flight operations, delays, cancellations, and baggage-related issues to ensure timely assistance. For any support, passengers can contact the helpline number 95010-15832. Additionally, they can also reach out to the official social media handle of the Airport Authority, @ixcairport, for updates. Passengers may also contact the helpline numbers issued by Indigo, Air India, Air India Express, and Alliance Air for assistance.

Sonali Giri stated that Indigo currently has the luggage of around 30 passengers, which will be delivered to their addresses free of cost. She added that the airline is required to inform passengers about flight cancellations at least 10 hours in advance. The government has also intensified monitoring to prevent overcharging by taxi operators and hotels. Essential needs such as food, medicines, and other facilities are being provided to passengers by the Airport Authority and the state government.
