Cricket to be held in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan; India had won gold in both men’s and women’s categories in 2023
The schedule for cricket events at the Asian Games 2026 has been officially announced. According to the organizers, cricket matches will be played from September 17 to October 3 as part of the Asian Games. All matches will be held in the T20 format. Japan will host the Asian Games from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya, although sporting competitions will begin nine days before the official opening ceremony.
As per the schedule released by the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games Organizing Committee (AINAGOC), the cricket matches will be staged at the Kurogi Athletic Park in Aichi Prefecture. Cricket remains one of the key sports in the Asian Games. In the previous edition held in 2023, the Indian cricket team delivered an outstanding performance, winning gold medals in both the men’s and women’s categories.
The women’s cricket competition will begin on September 17. A total of eight teams will participate in the women’s category, with matches starting directly from the quarterfinal stage. The medal matches in the women’s event will be played on September 22. The Indian women’s team will once again be aiming to defend its gold medal.
The men’s cricket tournament will start on September 24 and will conclude with the medal final on October 13. Ten teams will take part in the men’s category. Ahead of the quarterfinals, preliminary matches will be played over three days to determine the teams advancing to the knockout stage.
All cricket matches at the Asian Games 2026 will be played as double-headers during the day. The morning match will start at 5:30 AM Indian Standard Time, while the second match will begin at 10:30 AM IST. The tournament is expected to offer exciting action for cricket fans across Asia.
