Actor recalls hesitation during action scenes, praises Sunny Deol’s discipline and humility on set

Actor Behzaad Khan, who essays the role of Babar Khan in the upcoming war drama Border 2, has shared his experience of working alongside veteran actor Sunny Deol. Behzaad revealed that he initially felt hesitant and skeptical while performing intense action scenes with Sunny Deol, largely due to respect for his seniority and legendary status in Indian cinema.

Speaking about the shoot, Behzaad said that during an action sequence where both actors were required to hit and push each other, he found it difficult to give his all. He admitted that subconsciously he was holding himself back, as the idea of hitting Sunny Deol felt uncomfortable to him. According to Behzaad, Sunny Deol’s towering screen presence and decades-long contribution to the film industry made him extra cautious during those scenes.

However, Behzaad shared that Sunny Deol quickly sensed his hesitation and addressed it directly. The senior actor reassured him, explaining that they were both professionals and that realism was essential for the scene. Sunny encouraged Behzaad to treat him like any other on-screen opponent and perform without fear, assuring him that he would take care of himself during the action.

This interaction, Behzaad said, helped him overcome the “Sunny Deol aura” and allowed him to work more freely. He was then able to focus on delivering an authentic performance and engaging fully with the character and the scene.

Behzaad also recalled his first meeting with Sunny Deol, describing it as an emotional and overwhelming moment. He revealed that Sunny Deol had been a childhood hero for him and that sharing screen space with someone he had admired for years felt surreal. From discussing scenes to understanding the emotional depth required, Behzaad said the experience was both enriching and memorable.

What impressed Behzaad the most, however, was Sunny Deol’s discipline and dedication. He noted that despite his age and experience, Sunny remains deeply committed to his craft, remembers every detail, and performs his sequences himself. Behzaad added that working with Sunny Deol contributed significantly to his personal and professional growth, teaching him the value of humility, gratitude, and staying grounded.

According to Behzaad, Border 2 was not just another project, but a learning experience shaped by the presence and guidance of a true cinema legend.
