Strong Word of Mouth Drives Huge Growth; Film Set for a Record-Breaking Extended Weekend

Sunny Deol’s highly anticipated war drama ‘Border 2’ continued its impressive run at the box office on Day 3, raking in Rs 40.59 crore, marking a 26.46 per cent growth over its opening day. After earning Rs 32.10 crore on Friday, the film has now taken its two-day total to Rs 72.69 crore in India’s net collections.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh highlighted that the strong growth was largely driven by positive word of mouth from audiences across the country. “Mass circuits are witnessing near full capacity shows, and even in metropolitan cities like Mumbai, the footfalls improved significantly on Saturday,” he noted.

With Sunday and the Republic Day holiday on Monday, industry experts expect the film to post even higher numbers, potentially setting new records for January releases. The film’s mix of patriotic fervor, high-octane action, and emotional storytelling has struck a chord with viewers, making it a must-watch this weekend.

‘Border 2’ is inspired by the true events of the 1971 India-Pakistan War, showcasing the bravery and unity of the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Sunny Deol reprises his iconic uniformed role, bringing his signature intensity to the big screen once again. The film also features Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh in pivotal roles, adding to its pan-Indian appeal.

Directed by Anurag Singh, the movie is produced by Gulshan Kumar and T-Series in collaboration with JP Dutta’s JP Films. The blend of real-life heroics and cinematic grandeur has made the film resonate strongly with audiences, especially in regions where patriotic war dramas historically perform well.

With its stellar start and growing momentum, ‘Border 2’ is now on track to dominate the box office and emerge as one of the biggest hits of the year, proving once again that Sunny Deol and high-octane war dramas remain a winning combination.
