A shocking incident has come to light from New Chandigarh, where a salesgirl working at a clothing showroom was brutally stabbed by her husband. The accused attacked the woman multiple times on her back and upper waist, leaving her critically injured.

According to reports, the accused had reached outside the showroom before his wife arrived. As soon as she got there, he confronted her and asked what she wanted. The woman replied that she wanted her “son’s rights,” which enraged the husband. In a fit of anger, he pulled out a knife and attacked her.

The victim has been identified as Priyanka (28). She was married to Hira Lal, a resident of Panchkula. Due to frequent disputes and domestic violence, she had been living at her parental home for the past few years and had also filed a case in court.

The court had ordered the husband to pay a monthly maintenance of ₹5,000. He had reportedly paid around ₹30,000 so far but had recently been avoiding further payments, which often led to arguments between the couple.

Priyanka was rushed to Sector-16 Hospital in Chandigarh, where she is undergoing treatment and remains in serious condition. Meanwhile, police at Mullanpur police station have initiated the process of registering a case against the accused.

Family alleges, accused is reportedly addicted to alcohol

According to family members, the couple got married around eight years ago. They have a seven-year-old son who studies in Class 3. The accused is reportedly addicted to alcohol and other substances and often assaulted his wife.About five years ago, the situation worsened, forcing Priyanka to leave her matrimonial home. To support herself and her child, she started working as a salesgirl at a clothing showroom in Mullanpur around four months ago.
