Earlier, the University was granted the “Deemed Awarding Body – Dual Status” by NCVET, enabling it to conduct skill-based training programmes, carry out assessments, and award nationally recognized certificates to successful candidates.

The University has announced the commencement of six new skill development courses on its campus, with classes scheduled to begin from April 2026. These include Fundamentals of Computers (120 hours), Introduction to Tally Operations and GST Calculations (120 hours), Biomedical Waste Management for Nursing and Paramedical Staff (30 hours), Assistant Carpenter (40 hours), Helper Electrician (270 hours), and Essentials of Refrigeration and Air Conditioning (15 hours). He emphasized that the programmes will provide practical training and industry-relevant competencies, enabling learners to secure employment or pursue self-employment opportunities. He further added that all six courses will be offered at a very nominal fee structure, ensuring greater accessibility for aspiring learners.

Registrar Dr. Vijay Sharma informed that these courses are designed to significantly enhance the employability of youth by providing hands-on training and practical knowledge aligned with industry requirements. He added that the programmes will particularly benefit rural youth aged 15 years and above who have completed Class 8, 10, or 12 and are currently unemployed, enabling them to acquire market-relevant skills.

The Central University of Punjab is a reputed higher education institution known for excellence in quality education and research, offering more than 100 academic programmes at undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral levels across disciplines such as humanities, social sciences, sciences, law, management, and computer science.

The launch of these NCVET-approved skill development programmes marks another important milestone in the University’s efforts to promote skill development, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth.
