A 15-year-old minor student has given birth to a child in rural Jalandhar. The victim is a 9th-grade student and had been living with her paternal aunt for the past few months.
Following the incident, the police have registered a case against a youth named Rahul, a resident of Amritsar, under POCSO Act and have initiated an investigation.
According to the family, the teenager had been suffering from abdominal pain for approximately the past month and a half. She was initially treated by a private practitioner; however, as her condition did not improve, she was taken to a private hospital on April 19. Following an examination there, a female doctor informed the family that the girl was pregnant and had reached full term. Subsequently, a safe delivery was performed.
During questioning following the delivery, the victim accused Rahul a resident of Amritsar of rape.
Inspector Gursharan Singh, the Station House Officer (SHO) of Bilga Police Station, confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused and that police teams are actively working to apprehend him. Given the gravity of the matter, the investigation remains ongoing.
