A second worker injured in the boiler explosion at a rolling mill in the industrial area of Hisar has died during treatment, taking the death toll to two. Shiv Shankar passed away late Monday night while undergoing treatment at Jindal Hospital. Another worker, Vishal, had succumbed to his injuries on Sunday.

Shiv Shankar, a native of Gorakhpur district in Uttar Pradesh, had been working at the company for the past 20 years. The incident occurred on April 11 at around 4 pm at the Jindal Rolling Mill, when five workers were feeding scrap into the boiler.

According to the injured workers, an LPG cylinder was accidentally mixed with the scrap and was thrown into the boiler by one of the labourers. Moments later, a massive explosion occurred, and molten scrap fell onto all five workers, leaving them severely burned.

The injured workers were identified as Vishal from Satroad, Tara Bahadur from Nepal, Shiv Shankar from Gorakhpur, Hari Ram from Churu in Rajasthan, and Surajbali from Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh. The mill management rushed all of them to hospital immediately after the accident.

Family members said Vishal had suffered nearly 80 percent burns, while Hari Ram and Surajbali sustained comparatively minor burn injuries of 10 to 20 percent. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the cause of the blast.
