Drone-Dropped Explosives Meant for Targeted Attacks in Punjab, Delhi and Other States
In a major intelligence-led operation, the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC) Amritsar has busted another Pakistan-backed terror module and foiled a significant terror plot. One accused has been arrested and an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) packed in a metallic case with a remote-control mechanism, along with a foreign-made pistol and live ammunition, has been recovered from his possession.
Punjab Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said the arrested accused has been identified as Shubham Kumar alias Shubham Srivastava, a resident of Sarosa village in Sitapur district, Uttar Pradesh. Preliminary investigations indicate that he was in contact with a Pakistan-based handler through encrypted communication platforms.
The DGP stated that the terror consignment was sent from across the border using a drone and was later retrieved from a designated location on the outskirts of Amritsar. The IED was intended for carrying out targeted attacks in multiple states, including Punjab and Delhi. Further investigations are underway to dismantle the entire terror network.
This action comes a day after Punjab Police busted another ISI-backed terror module with the arrest of Rahul Kumar alias Gaju from Amritsar and recovered an RDX-based IED from his possession.
AIG SSOC Amritsar Sukhminder Singh Mann said that police teams had received specific intelligence about explosives and weapons being pushed from Pakistan via drone by operatives. Acting swiftly, special teams were formed, leading to the arrest of the accused from an abandoned area near a dargah on the Amritsar–Jalandhar GT Road. The IED and pistol were recovered during the operation.
Investigations revealed that the accused was highly radicalised and had travelled from Uttar Pradesh to Amritsar after being promised a lucrative sum by his handler. He retrieved the consignment on instructions to execute terror activities.
In this regard, FIR No. 09 dated 10.02.2026 has been registered at PS SSOC Amritsar under Section 61(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Sections 18 and 20 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), Section 4 of the Explosive Substances Act, and Section 25(1)(d) of the Arms Act. Further investigation is ongoing.
