Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini said that Haryana has been the birthplace of great personalities who have pioneered social, cultural, and religious transformations since the Vedic period. These saints and reformers have guided humanity through their teachings, which continue to remain relevant even today. He said that Swami Atmanand Ji Maharaj dedicated his entire life to the upliftment of the exploited and deprived, consistently opposing casteism and discrimination. Through his association with the Arya Samaj, he made significant contributions toward eradicating social evils.
The Chief Minister was addressing the gathering at the 140th birth anniversary celebrations of the great freedom fighter and social reformer, Swami Atmanand Maharaj Ji, organized by the Swami Atmanand Haryana Scheduled Caste Education Society in Rohtak today.
On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced a grant of Rs 51 lakh to the Education Committee and assured that all the demands submitted by the Committee would be considered and fulfilled. Earlier, he paid floral tributes to Swami Atmanand Maharaj.
Saini said that October 2nd is a day of special significance as the nation celebrates the birth anniversaries of two great leaders Mahatma Gandhi, who preached the path of truth, non-violence, and cleanliness, and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri, who gave the slogan “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan.” He also extended his greetings to the people on the eve of Dussehra, the festival symbolizing the victory of good over evil.
Highlighting the life and contributions of Swami Atmanand Maharaj, the Chief Minister said that Swamiji dedicated himself to the welfare of the poor and underprivileged. He established the Haryana Harijan Ashram in Rohtak in 1928 and the Swami Atmanand Harijan Trust in 1948. Apart from his role as a social reformer, Swamiji was also an active participant in the freedom movement and worked tirelessly to promote education. The Chief Minister said that the State Government is implementing various scholarship schemes for Scheduled Caste students to uphold Swamiji’s ideals and principles. He also shared detailed information about the government’s initiatives for the welfare of people belonging to Scheduled Castes.
During the programme, Saini also launched the One Rupee, One Brick campaign, under which former MP Smt. Sunita Duggal presented a silver brick. He urged the gathering to follow the path shown by great reformers and actively contribute to the eradication of social evils.
CM ensuring welfare of every section of society: Dr. Arvind Sharma
State Cooperation Minister, Dr. Arvind Sharma said that CM Saini is continuously working for the welfare of all sections of society in Haryana. On this occasion, he announced a grant of Rs 21 lakh to the Swami Atmanand Scheduled Caste Education Committee. He further said that every section of society is benefitting from the GST reforms implemented under the leadership of Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi.
Swami Atmanand Ji Maharaj worked towards social reform: Ramchandra Jangra
Rajya Sabha MP, Sh. Ramchandra Jangra, said that Swami Atmanand Ji Maharaj dedicated his entire life to the welfare of the poor and underprivileged, while consistently encouraging people to educate their children. He announced a grant of Rs 11 lakh to the Education Committee. He further said that, through the Arya Samaj, Swamiji played a pivotal role in eradicating social evils, and the principles of Swami Dayanand have been widely embraced in Haryana. He also recalled Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar’s call to society to “educate, organize, and fight for rights,” adding that the Chief Minister is committed to providing equal opportunities for progress to every section of society.
