Crime Branch-26 team of Panchkula Police arrested a drug smuggler with 3.4 kilograms of heroin (commonly known as ‘chitta’) and recovered around ₹15 lakh in cash from his possession.
According to DCP Crime Amarinder Singh, the accused, identified as Lavjot, was arrested from Kundi village in Sector-20. He is a resident of Jalalabad in Punjab. The police recovered approximately 3 kilograms of heroin along with the cash during the operation.
The accused was produced before a court, which granted a four-day police remand. During interrogation, it was revealed that Lavjot had been living in Chandigarh in a rented house and was actively spreading a drug network across the Tricity region.
Police officials stated that other members and handlers linked to the heroin smuggling racket have been identified and will be arrested soon. They also noted that after Sirsa, this is the largest heroin seizure recorded in Panchkula, marking a significant success for law enforcement.
