Weather conditions across Himachal Pradesh are set to change significantly, with rain and snowfall forecast for the next week starting today. The India Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert for thunderstorms and an Orange Alert for hailstorms in several parts of the state.
Skies remained overcast in Shimla on Saturday, indicating the impact of an active Western Disturbance.
According to the Meteorological Centre in Shimla, rain and snowfall are expected across the state from March 28 to April 3. However, on April 1, only higher-altitude regions are likely to receive light precipitation.
Between March 28–30 and again on April 2–3, many areas are expected to witness widespread rain and snowfall. Meanwhile, March 31 may see light to moderate precipitation at isolated locations.
A Yellow Alert has been issued for thunderstorms accompanied by wind speeds of 40–50 km/h during March 28–30 and April 2–3. Additionally, an Orange Alert for hailstorms and thunderstorms has been issued for March 29 in the districts of Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi, and Shimla district.
The changing weather is also expected to bring a drop in temperatures, with minimum temperatures likely to fall by 2–4°C over the next 3–4 days.
