Punjab Newsline | Islamabad
A delegation from Iran arrived in Pakistan late Friday night for peace talks with the United States. The visit is being led by Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf.
After reaching Islamabad, Qalibaf shared a photo on social media platform X showing four children’s pictures placed on airplane seats, each accompanied by a school bag and flowers. The gesture appeared to highlight civilian casualties from a recent conflict-related incident. He writes: "They Are With Me on This Journey"—They Were Killed in a Missile Attack on a School.
According to reports, a primary school in the Iranian city of Minab was attacked on February 28 during the first day of the conflict, resulting in 168 deaths, including children and school staff. Iran has blamed the United States and Israel for the attack, while the US has stated that it is investigating the incident.
A key meeting on peace between the United States and Iran is scheduled to take place in Islamabad on Saturday. JD Vance, the Vice President of the United States, is expected to arrive shortly to participate in the talks.
