India’s No. 1 player to lead the challenge against the Netherlands

India’s No. 1 tennis player Sumit Nagal, hailing from Jhajjar district in Haryana, is once again set to shoulder the country’s Davis Cup hopes. Sumit Nagal has been selected in the Indian team for the Davis Cup 2026 Qualifiers against the Netherlands. The tie will be played on February 7 and 8 at the S. M. Krishna Tennis Stadium in Bengaluru, where the Indian team will look to make the most of home conditions.

Along with Sumit Nagal, Yuki Bhambri and Karan Singh have been named in the main squad, while Digvijay Singh has been included in the list of reserve players. Sumit Nagal is expected to compete in the singles matches and will play a key role in India’s campaign.

Last year, Sumit Nagal created history for Indian tennis by breaking a 32-year-old record. Under his leadership, India defeated a strong European side to register a memorable Davis Cup victory. This achievement not only reinforced his position as India’s top-ranked player but also enhanced his reputation on the international stage.

Currently ranked 279 in the world, Sumit Nagal has recently joined the Round Glass Tennis Academy. His association with the academy is being seen as a significant milestone, both for the player and the institution, which has established itself as one of the country’s most trusted and ambitious high-performance tennis centres.

With his experience and fighting spirit, Sumit Nagal is expected to be a decisive factor for India in the Davis Cup Qualifiers. All eyes will once again be on the Jhajjar-born player as he looks to deliver another strong and inspiring performance for the nation.
