72nd National Volleyball Championship concludes in Varanasi; Deputy CMs present trophies to winners
The 72nd National Volleyball Championship concluded on Saturday at Sigra Stadium in Varanasi with exciting final matches. After intense competition among top teams from across the country, Kerala emerged champions in the women’s category, while the Railways team claimed the title in the men’s category. A large number of sports enthusiasts gathered at the stadium to witness the finals and encourage the players.
The closing ceremony was graced by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya as the chief guest. He was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who is also the state president of the Uttar Pradesh Volleyball Association. Both leaders presented trophies and awards to the winning and runner-up teams and wished the players a bright future.
In the women’s final, Kerala and Railways faced each other in a closely contested and thrilling match. Kerala displayed excellent coordination, strong defense, and aggressive play to defeat Railways and secure the championship title. Both teams put up an impressive performance, but Kerala proved superior at crucial moments to seal the victory.
In the men’s category, Railways once again demonstrated their dominance and experience. In the final match, Railways defeated Kerala in straight sets to lift the trophy along with the cash prize. From the very beginning, the Railways team maintained control of the match and did not allow the opposition any significant opportunity to make a comeback.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Chief Ministers said that national-level tournaments provide an important platform for players to showcase their talent and help strengthen the country’s sports culture. They congratulated the organizers for the successful conduct of the championship. The event concluded on a positive note, leaving players and volleyball fans energized and inspired.
