Tension gripped the Noorwala Road area under Basti Jodhewal police station limits in Ludhiana on Monday after a mob allegedly took the law into its own hands and punished a suspected thief in a brutal manner.
According to reports, locals caught a young man red-handed while he was allegedly attempting to commit theft in the area. As soon as he was apprehended, a large crowd gathered at the spot, and the situation quickly escalated.
Eyewitnesses said the angry mob tied the accused to an electric pole and thrashed him mercilessly. In a shocking act, they also shaved his head publicly and paraded him along the road, apparently to “teach him a lesson.” The entire incident was recorded on video and later went viral on social media, sparking widespread discussion.
Upon receiving information, police rushed to the scene and rescued the accused from the mob. He was taken into custody for further investigation.
Police officials stated that while a probe into the alleged theft is underway, strict action will also be taken against those who took the law into their own hands, emphasizing that such acts of vigilantism will not be tolerated.
