University Court of CU Punjab Approves Statutory Reports, Applauds Academic and Research Growth

 In the Calendar Year 2025, CU Punjab recorded a remarkable performance in national and international rankings, securing the 77th rank in NIRF 2025 and a 601–800 global rank band in the THE World University Rankings 2026.

University Court commended progress across academics, research and infrastructure during the last year and suggested strategic improvements to strengthen innovation, student employability and the academic ecosystem.

The Central University of Punjab (CU Punjab) approved its Annual Report for the Academic Year 2024–25 and the Audited Statement of Accounts along with the Separate Audit Report (SAR) for FY 2024–25 during the 14th meeting of the University Court, held last week. The University Court, the apex statutory body of the University, unanimously approved the submission of these documents to the Ministry of Education for laying before both Houses of Parliament, as well as their dissemination to the general public.

Welcoming the Chairman of the University Court-cum-Hon’ble Chancellor, Prof. Jagbir Singh, and members attending in both physical and online modes, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari, expressed gratitude for their continued guidance and support. He presented a comprehensive overview of the University’s progress since the previous meeting held on 19 December 2024, highlighting achievements in academics, research and infrastructure.

The Vice-Chancellor Prof. Raghavendra P. Tiwari stated that during the calendar year 2025, the University secured the 77th rank in NIRF 2025, thereby featuring among India’s top 100 universities for the seventh consecutive year. In addition, the University achieved global recognition by being placed in the 601–800 rank band of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026. The presentation also covered key academic initiatives, research collaborations, publications and projects, and significant developments in physical and academic infrastructure, along with initiatives to strengthen teaching–learning processes and enhance research output. Members of the University Court appreciated the University’s notable progress and commended the collective efforts of the administration, faculty and staff in advancing academic programmes, research productivity and infrastructural development.

During the meeting, the members of the University Court also offered forward-looking suggestions, including expediting hostel construction, strengthening industry–academia linkages, expanding student placements in non-academic sectors to enhance employability, and creating a mentor panel from agricultural and allied industries to foster agriculture-based start-ups, aimed at strengthening innovation, employability and the academic ecosystem.

The deliberations reflected the University Court’s collective vision for strengthening governance, academic excellence, and societal impact in the years ahead.
