Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla, along-with Lady Governor Janaki Shukla, visited the historic Markandeya temple in Bilaspur on the auspicious occasion of the holy month of Shravan. They offered prayers at the revered shrine dedicated to Sage Markandeya.
On this occasion, the Governor prayed for the happiness, prosperity and well-being of the people of the state. He remarked that Sage Markandeya was regarded in Hindu mythology as one of the most devout followers of Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu. The temple, he said, holds immense religious significance and was one of the most important spiritual sites in the region.
In an informal interaction with media persons, the Governor mentioned about his recent visit to the disaster-affected areas of Mandi district. He expressed concern over the huge loss of life and property but appreciated the courage and resilience displayed by the people. “Despite the adversity, the spirit of the people remains strong. May Sage Markandeya continue to protect and bless the people of Himachal Pradesh,” he said.
Deputy Commissioner Rahul Kumar felicitated the Governor and the Lady Governor.
Secretary to the Governor C.P. Verma, SP Bilaspur Sandeep Dhawal and other officials from the district administration were also present during the visit.
