Radha Yadav to Lead India A in Rising Stars Asia Cup, Perth Test from March 6
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has taken a significant step to inject fresh energy into the Indian women's red-ball setup. The board announced the squad for the one-off Test against Australia, with several players earning their first call-ups. The Test match will be held at the iconic WACA ground in Perth from March 6 to 9, 2026, known for its fast pitches and challenging conditions.
The biggest highlight of the team is the maiden Test call-ups for all-rounder Amanjot Kaur and ODI opener Pratika Rawal. Their inclusion signals that the selectors are aiming to add depth to the batting lineup while keeping an eye on the future. These new options are expected to strengthen the team’s batting order.
Fresh faces have also been introduced in the bowling department. Kranti Gaud, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Sayali Satghare have been added to the Test squad, giving both pace and spin attacks a new dimension. Led by captain Harmanpreet Kaur, the team presents a balanced mix of experience and youthful energy, with Smriti Mandhana serving as the vice-captain.
Meanwhile, wicketkeeper-batter G Kamalini has been ruled out of the white-ball leg of the Australia tour due to injury. Uma Chetry has been named as her replacement for the T20I and ODI squads. Kamalini had also missed the Women’s Premier League recently due to injury.
Additionally, the BCCI announced the India A squad for the ACC Rising Stars Women’s Asia Cup in Thailand, to be played in T20 format. Experienced all-rounder Radha Yadav will lead the side. The participation of Deeya Yadav and wicketkeeper Mamta M will depend on fitness clearance from the BCCI Center of Excellence.
Overall, this selection offers a glimpse into the future of Indian women’s cricket, combining experienced players with new talent and giving young players the opportunity to prove themselves on a big stage.
