₹1,500 Monthly Pension for Each Eligible Senior Citizen; ₹4,100 Crore Budget Provision Ensures Timely and Transparent Disbursement

The Punjab Government has released ₹3,806 crore under the Old-Age Pension Scheme during the financial year 2025–26 up to January 2026, providing major relief to over 23.62 lakh elderly citizens across the state. Social Security, Women and Child Development Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, the government is committed to honoring and empowering senior citizens, considering them a living legacy and pride of Punjab.

Dr. Baljit Kaur stated that every eligible elderly beneficiary is receiving a monthly pension of ₹1,500 regularly, enabling them to live with dignity, security, and independence. She emphasized that the government’s objective is not only to provide financial assistance but also to ensure a strong social security system for senior citizens.

Highlighting the government’s commitment to seamless pension distribution, the Minister said that a budget provision of ₹4,100 crore has been allocated to ensure timely and transparent disbursement of pensions. This measure is aimed at preventing any inconvenience or delay in delivering financial assistance to eligible beneficiaries.

Issuing strict instructions to departmental officials, Dr. Baljit Kaur warned that any delay, negligence, or lapse in pension distribution will not be tolerated. Officials found responsible for any irregularities will face strict action as per rules.

She further stated that senior citizens are custodians of Punjab’s social heritage, wisdom, and values. Ensuring their safety, dignity, and well-being is essential for realizing the vision of a vibrant and prosperous “Rangla Punjab.” The government remains fully committed to ensuring that every elderly citizen can live a worry-free life with strong institutional support and respect.
