“Main ghayal hoon isliye ghatak hoon, said Raghav Chadha in a video statement. The Rajya Sabha MP borrowed a famous dialogue from the blockbuster film “Dhurandhar” to target his own party. In the statement, he rejected three allegations made against him by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) a day earlier to justify his removal from the post of deputy leader of the party in the Rajya Sabha.

With this statement, the ongoing public rift between Raghav Chadha and AAP took a fresh turn on Saturday.  Chadha said that he had gone to Parliament not to create disruption, but to make a meaningful impact.

He referred to three allegations made by AAP: that he does not support Opposition walkouts in the House; that he did not sign the impeachment motion brought against the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) over the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls; and that he is afraid to raise public issues. Challenging the party, Chadha said it should prove even one of these allegations.

“These are all baseless lies. There are CCTV cameras in the Rajya Sabha, which can verify whether I supported the Opposition’s walkout or not. Moreover, out of AAP’s 10 Rajya Sabha MPs, six did not sign the motion against the CEC, since only 50 MPs’ signatures are required to move such a proposal. So why is so much noise being made about Raghav Chadha? No AAP leader even contacted me to sign this motion,” he said.

“From Punjab’s water crisis to Delhi’s pollution; from taxation issues to menstrual health—topics that are often ignored—I have raised only public concerns in the Rajya Sabha,” Chadha said. He also strongly rejected AAP’s allegation that he is afraid of the government and Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He added that over the past four years, he has consistently raised public issues in the Rajya Sabha.

He further warned AAP that he will continue to expose what he called “all false allegations” made against him.
