Amid voting on 152 seats in West Bengal, the Naoda area of Murshidabad emerged as a hotspot of election-related tension. A heated clash broke out in Shivnagar village between supporters of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) and those of Humayun Kabir.
During the polling process, reports of confrontation between the TMC and Humayun Kabir, chief of the Aam Janata Unnayan Party (AJUP), further escalated the situation. The atmosphere turned tense as both sides engaged in sharp exchanges.
Kabir made serious allegations against the TMC, claiming that the ruling party influenced several of his party’s candidates to withdraw from the contest by offering large sums of money. According to him, this has raised serious questions about the fairness of the electoral process.
He further alleged that his party initially had 142 candidates in the fray, but the number has now dropped to 115 due to such influence. Kabir claimed that some candidates were paid between ₹9 lakh and ₹30 lakh to step out of the election.
