According to police, the incident occurred while the DSP was cleaning his service revolver, when the firearm accidentally discharged, hitting him in the chest. Family members rushed him to a private hospital in Jalandhar, where doctors declared him dead.
Police have launched an investigation to determine whether the case involves suicide or an accidental firing. However, initial findings suggest it was likely an accidental discharge.
