A shocking incident unfolded in Punjab’s Gurdaspur district, where a female teacher was brutally attacked with acid by her own nephew inside a government primary school classroom. The attack occurred while the teacher was conducting a lesson, leaving her critically injured and causing burn injuries to two young students.

According to reports, Lakhvinder Kaur (36) was teaching at a government primary school in Mahidpur village on Friday morning, as per her daily routine. At around 10:30 am, her nephew entered the classroom carrying a bottle filled with acid and suddenly threw it directly at her.

The acid severely burned Lakhvinder Kaur, particularly her face, triggering panic across the school premises. During the attack, acid splashes also struck two students Ajit Singh (4) and Prabhjot Kaur (6) who sustained burn injuries.

All three victims were immediately rushed to a hospital for treatment. According to school staff and local authorities, Prabhjot Kaur suffered injuries to her eyes, while the teacher’s condition remains critical due to severe facial burns. They are currently admitted to Batala Civil Hospital.

The accused fled the scene immediately after the attack but was later apprehended by the police. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the suspect is allegedly a drug addict and is also HIV-positive. Police have launched a detailed investigation and are currently interrogating the accused to determine the motive behind the attack.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community, raising serious concerns over safety in educational institutions.
