The Punjab and Haryana High Court has taken a strict view on a petition filed by former Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the court has directed the Hisar Superintendent of Police to file a personal affidavit. The next hearing in the case has been scheduled for April 30.
The case stems from an incident following protests at Guru Jambheshwar University of Science and Technology, after which FIRs were registered against leaders of JJP and INSO. On April 17, Dushyant Chautala and his brother Digvijay Chautala reached the city police station to offer arrest in protest.
Later, while heading towards the SP office, a heated argument broke out on Subzi Mandi bridge between police personnel and CIA in-charge Pawan Kumar.
Dushyant Chautala alleged that Pawan Kumar attempted to run him over with his vehicle on the bridge and also threatened him with a weapon. In response, both sides filed complaints against each other. To investigate the matter, the SP constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) under the leadership of DSP Kamaljeet.
